Science is about making sense of the environment we live in and thus developing our understanding of it.
We aim to foster pupil's excitement and curiosity, enabling them to investigate the world around them.
We aim to equip pupils with the skills required for scientific enquiry by observing, questioning, predicting and hypothesising and to carry out practical investigations to record, interpret and communicate scientific findings and apply scientific knowledge.
Our plans show a breadth of study as well as how working scientifically is embedded within each unit of work. Plans also include the scientific vocabulary to be taught with each unit of work to enable children to articulate scientific concepts clearly and precisely.
As well as units of work, we ensure that reference is made to scientific concepts and knowledge throughout the year as a continuous provision within all aspects of the school environment and seize opportunities for intra-curricular links.
